
BIOGRAPHY
Catherine Matsou
Catherine Matsou was born in 1992 in Volos town in Greece.
She is a vocal/theatre teacher and singer, studying in the field of Vocals for 14 years (2005-2019):
She has graduated from the Theater Department of the Fine Arts School at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2010-2016). She is a holder of Diploma in Contemporary Song (Grade: 10/10 “Excellent) of the Conservatoire “Rythmos” in Volos (28/06/2011). She is a MA graduate of Kingston University of London (2017-2018), where she studied modern vocals: “Mmus in Musical Performance”. She has conducted a dissertation-research on musical vocal techniques in the context of her studies in the Theater School and a second one with the title “Singing with growl: Methods and Techniques” during her MA studies.
She has also been studied various dance styles for over 11 years, including these of the Modern Jazz, being a member of the "Aspa Vasilaki Team" (1st Prize in Modern Jazz at the Open Salonica Pan-European Dance Competition, 2013-2014) and member of the university’s dance team “Flames of Passion”, Oriental, Latin, Modern Dance, Ballet, Tango.
She has been attending physical theatre and vocal classes for 1,5 years with Aliki Dourmazer in Thessaloniki and she has participated in the final theatre performance of the class in spring of 2017.
She has attended piano, guitar and theoretical music lessons, sound engineering, freehand drawing, jazz harmony and she took part in several seminars of artistic and pedagogical interest.
Since 2010, she has been performing musical performances as a basic voice in musical bands, at various music stages in Thessaloniki town (Greece) and the suburbs. She participated in live performances as a member of choirs, such as at the Concert Hall of Thessaloniki, as a member of the Mixed Chorus of Thessaloniki, in the musical tribute to the Greek poet Kavafis, with the lead voice to be the singer George Dalaras (2014).
Since 2014, she constitutes a member of K's Blink professional musical theatre team, under the supervision of the choreographer Dimitra Kastellou and of the vocal teachers Dimitra Athanassatou and Athanasia Kiriakidou (performances at the Concert Hall of Thessaloniki and participation in the 5th Global Festival of Musical Theatre).
She provides vocal tuitions and voice and body manipulation practices based on physical theatre and dance techniques, since 2016.
